In his early work at the Esalen Institute in the 1960s and ‘70s, Dr. Miller studied music therapy and movement therapy, and invented the first deep relaxation/guided imagery cassettes, enhanced with music. He has continued to study the effect of music on healing, producing his own music as well as clinically evaluating that produced by others.

Music has a unique ability to reduce stress, promote healing, and, as well, to inspire, empower, and guide. Spirituals are well named; they do inspire.
