Healthy self-esteem refers to the situation that occurs when a person has honest self-knowledge, and, seeing who they truly are, values and respects themselves. This value and respect, when accompanied by self-confidence, is called healthy self-esteem. Healthy self-esteem is to be distinguished from “pseudo self-esteem,” where people develop pride and confidence in their possessions, social position, or their ability to win or be victorious.
